Interview Preparation

Once you have secured an interview with Diamond Teachers Recruitment client school, you need to start thinking about how you are going to present yourself in the best possible way to secure ongoing employment.

Prior Preparation Prevents Poor Performance (the famous 5 P's) This usually means doing the following:-

Plan your journey - You want to arrive promptly. Its better to be a whole lot early than late. Plan to arrive at least 1 hour prior to your interview time in case there are issues with trains and buses. Speak to your consultant to ensure you have step by step directions at least the night before your interview.

Research the School - What are their values? How many students are on roll? What extracurricular programmes do they run? This information is probably most readily available to you through your Diamond Teachers Recruitment Consultant.

Research the UK - Curriculum (UK National Curriculum) You are interviewing in a UK school. There are going to be questions on the National Curriculum. Do your research and understand the basic learning and assessment methods used in the UK.

Market your Skills and previous work habits - Take with you a portfolio showing units of work that you have designed, implemented and assessed in previous positions.

Questioning - This is a real job interview. Think of the questions you might be asked and have some well thought out responses. Being clear, confident and correct in your responses will show school leaders that you are ready to take on the responsibility and requirements of the role you are interviewing for. Make sure you ask questions about the school/management/responsibilities/what will you be teaching/who will be your line manager/schools behaviour and other policies etc .

When attending Teacher Job Interviews, maintain eye contact with your interviewers. Have confident body language and as with any other things you do in life, be enthusiastic about the school and the job in front of you. Demonstrate how you organise your teaching day and demonstrate how you go about teaching a class. Your subject knowledge is going to be tested in your interview.

When coming to your interview, please bring with you the following documents.

Please provide the following documents in your interview:
(1) Passport-Sized Photographs.
(2) 2 Forms of Identification (either Passport, Drivers Licence or Birth Certificate).
(3) Updated CV.
(4) Original Qualification Certificates.
(5) Bank Details.
(6) National Insurance Number.
(7) 2 Proofs of Address (we accept Bank Statements or Utility Bills)
(8) A Clear CRB Enhanced Disclosure Certificate (if you do not have a current certificate, Diamond Teachers Recruitment can apply for one on your behalf - please ask for details).

We wish you GOOD LUCK!
